Regalia Appeal

As Warden of Regalia for the Provincial Priory of Lancashire, it is my privilege to help ensure that every Knight is properly and fittingly attired, and that the dignity of our ceremonies is always upheld. It is in that spirit that I write to make a simple request of the Province.

Templar regalia, when newly purchased, represents a considerable outlay. For a Knight taking his first steps in the Order, or for a Companion weighing whether to join us, the cost of a mantle, tunic, cap, belt, jewels, sash and sword can feel daunting. I should not wish any worthy man to hesitate, or to feel that expense alone stood between him and the fellowship of the Temple.

Many of us, in truth, have redundant jewels and regalia that is no longer in use. It may be a spare set kept against a need that never arose, items laid aside after a change of office, or the regalia of a Knight who has been called to the Grand Lodge Above, whose family would be glad to see it pass to good purpose. Whatever its history, regalia that sits unused in a wardrobe can give faithful service for many years to come.

I am therefore appealing to all Knights, and to the families of departed brethren, to consider donating any regalia they no longer require. Every item received is treated with the utmost care and respect. It is checked, and where appropriate quietly made ready for the next Knight who will wear it with pride. Nothing is wasted, and nothing of sentimental or historic value is parted with lightly.

Donated regalia is then offered to new and returning Knights, so that cost need never be a barrier to taking one's place in the Order. In this small way we help one another, which is, after all, among the oldest of our obligations.

If you have regalia you would be willing to donate, or if you would simply like to discuss what is needed, I should be glad to hear from you. Please use the form below and I will be in touch.

With my fraternal good wishes,

The Warden of Regalia
