Barbeque at Cleveleys

Sunday 14th June saw a good contingent of The Northern Light Preceptory assemble in Cleveleys for a summer family barbeque. And a sun-day it certainly was, the weather playing its part in what turned out to be an excellent afternoon at the home of Eminent Preceptor EKt Duncan Smith P.Prov.Herald together with his wife Karen who looked after their assembled guests in superb style.

The excellent knights' fare produced by the hosts was commented on by everyone in attendance. Superb burgers, steaks, sausages and accompanying salad items were all very well received,

The Provincial Organist in particular seemed to enjoy the food offerings and was seen on more than one occasion hovering around the desserts selection.

Mind those fingers Keith, you'll need them for playing the organ next season!

Hosts Karen and Duncan had even organised a Templar Quiz which had every knight dredging the depths of their memory banks for the answers. Everybody did well but perhaps it was just as well that our Sub-Prior EKt Chris Sage P.Gt.Aide-de-Camp won the competition, but only on the tie-breaker question!!

A fine afternoon was had by all and the even better news was that amongst the assembled company were three companions all who expressed a desire to join the preceptory in the coming months.

It proves that if a preceptory are planning social gatherings then inviting potential candidates is an excellent way to introduce companions to the members.

And if that weren't enough - a goodly sum raised from the raffle, Name the Bear and the quiz.

The preceptory wishes to place on record its grateful thanks to both Karen and Duncan for a superb afternoon.
