A Memorable Visit to the Lincolnshire Provincial Priory

On Saturday 3 October, seven members of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard, accompanied by the Sub-Prior, travelled to Lincoln for what proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable visit to the Lincolnshire Provincial Priory meeting.

The magnificent surroundings provided a particularly impressive setting for the occasion. From the cloisters and stained glass to the grandeur of the ceremony itself, the venue added a real sense of history and occasion to the day.

The meeting brought together members from across the Province and visiting brethren, providing an opportunity not only to take part in the formal proceedings but also to renew old friendships and make new ones. The members of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard were proud to attend and support the Sub-Prior during the visit.

Lincoln Cathedral is an impressive venue

Following the meeting, there was time to enjoy Lincoln itself. With the cathedral providing an unmistakable backdrop, the group made the most of the opportunity to explore the historic city and sample some of its hospitality.

A couple of quiet beers, and maybe a few loud ones!

Of course, no trip of this kind would be complete without a little refreshment. The evening continued in considerably less formal surroundings, with the regalia exchanged for more comfortable attire and a few well-earned pints. The photographs suggest that the camaraderie continued long after the formal business of the day had concluded!

The group stayed overnight in Lincoln, turning the visit into an excellent weekend away and giving everyone the chance to enjoy the fellowship and friendship that are such an important part of these occasions without having to rush home afterwards.

The venue for the dinner following the provincial meeting

Our thanks go to the Lincolnshire Provincial Priory for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Sub-Prior and members of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard. It was a memorable occasion, in spectacular surroundings, and a very enjoyable visit for everyone who made the journey.

We look forward to the next opportunity to meet our Lincolnshire brethren — and perhaps to another pint or two afterwards.
